Implementation of Hazardous Waste Regulations and Landfill Directive have resulted in the biggest changes in the management and disposal of hazardous wastes and chemical wastes for more than 30 years.
Many new wastes have been classed as hazardous waste with the introduction of definitions contained in the European Waste Catalogue and changes in licensing and the adoption of more stringent Waste Acceptance Criteria testing have restricted the number of sites able to process certain types of hazardous, chemical and toxic waste.
Envirogreen are here to help work through the complex regulations and come up with compliant cost effective hazardous waste and chemical waste disposal solutions.
With over 15 years experience in the field and licensed by the Environment Agency Envirogreen can handle all hazardous wastes including:
• Chemicals
• Pesticides
• Oils
• Solvents
• Paints
• Cylinders and aerosols
We handle all volumes from 1 bottle to full loads of bulk or packaged materials providing a full service covering, where necessary, analysis, packing, labelling, transport and disposal.
Using our extensive knowledge about hazardous chemical waste disposal, we will select the most appropriate disposal route for your wastes and ensure all documentation and licensing is in place, options for hazardous waste disposal include:
Hazardous Landfill, historically the cheapest option but changes in waste acceptance criteria and reductions in capacity make delivering waste directly to site often impractical and uneconomic. Still a viable option for larger quantities and bulk wastes (contaminated soils) as well as regular homogeneous wastes such as contaminated packaging. All waste must be subject to laboratory analysis before acceptance which adds costs pre disposal.
Incineration, there are a number of incinerators around the country with different capabilities. Some can burn non hazardous waste and clinical waste with energy recovery (some recycling) whilst most hazardous waste, including all pesticides, go to specialist high temperature waste incinerators for final destruction. This is regarded as the safest and most effective way of dealing with combustible organic wastes, which are unsuitable for landfill because of their toxicity, flammability or resistance to natural breakdown.
Treatment / recovery, most chemical waste is consigned to treatment and processing plant before going to their final disposal sites. These facilities will process wastes e.g. by neutralising acid / basic wastes, denaturing aqueous solutions and shredding and reducing the volume of packaging. Low flash point wastes may be recovered for re-use in chem-fuels.
Using our extensive knowledge Envirogreen can advise on the suitability of each disposal route and arrange for any necessary testing and analysis required.
Key Benefits
All hazardous waste and chemical waste is properly classified before consignment.
All necessary labels and over packing materials are provided.
All necessary documentation for hazardous waste disposal is completed.
What is Required
Before we can provide a quotation or complete a hazardous waste disposal or chemical waste disposal, we need a detailed list of what needs to be collected.
We need to know the location, the type of hazardous or chemical waste, the weight or volume and condition of packaging. Once we have received your waste disposal requirements, we will be able to offer a firm quotation, without obligation, and a likely time scale to execute the chemical waste disposal.
